Architectural Design II
Project 1: Diagramming Architectural Principles
The first project of the semester was a two week project where as a group we had to research on a building or horse designed by known Architects. We chose the KhianKhai Home and Studio by Sher Maker. The aim was to produce diagrams displaying the architectural principles of the chosen building, making models for each design principle as well as producing orthographic drawings of the house itself.
The project was without a doubt stressful, but that is part of being an Architect. Overall it was really fun and as a group we were satisfied with the outcome. The first project really set the pace for what was coming for the remainder of the semester.
Project 2: Designing with Architectural Principles and Materiality
INTROSPECTIVE PAVILION
Following what we learned from project 1, for this project we were required to use these architectural principles to produce an Architectural Introspective Pavilion to showcase spatial experience. The maximum volume of the pavilion was restricted to 125 cubic meters.
This project was meant for us as individual to be more self aware. It required self reflection and asking ourselves what really is our purpose and how do we see ourselves.

Our group decided to explore this a bit and this is why for our pavilion we decided to use reflective stainless steel as the material. Throughout the pavilion the user can be able to see themselves as well as others around them and for us this is truly a great experience.
Project 3: Designing with Architectural Principles, Materiality, Context and User
ATELIER BY THE STREAM
For the final project, individually we had to take everything we learnt throughout the semester from both previous projects to design an atelier by the stream. At the end of the semester we had to present our project to working Architects and lecturers. The pressure was really there since for me it was my first time ever presenting live to other people. It was truly a memorable experience. Throughout the project there were many ups and downs and when i look back at the journey for me I can see clearly how much I have developed and improved since the beginning of my journey as an Architecture student since last August. For me this project meant a lot as I had to prove to myself that I can do this and I want to keep improving as an Architect.

The site given to us was Wawasan Recreational park in Puchong, we conducted site analysis of the park and from there had to start developing our design.

The Atelier I design was for my little sister and I. It was a way for us to experience a proper bond together especially now that I left her thousands of miles away to pursue my dreams of becoming an Architect.
Personally I feel that there is a lot more I could have done to give more life to my design and improve it further but I am very satisfied with it as it shows my progress as an individual and it is a project close to my heart which I will never forget.

From there I am really looking forward to semester 3 and its challenges so that I can improve more and be the best version of myself as an Architect. Semester 2 was really an eye-opener for me and I am forever grateful to all the tutors and critics for helping me through this journey.
